Double Doors is the kind of project that doesn’t come along very often. A premium beachfront site, clients who knew exactly what they wanted to accomplish with this new build, combined with a brief that gave us room to really focus on the craft. The result earned a cover feature in Home Magazine, and it’s easy to see why.
Cladding was the main feature for this property, with cedar and Nu-Wall externally, and American oak feature panels throughout the interior. Every material choice was deliberately selected for how it would perform in a coastal environment over the long term and for how it would feel to live with day after day. Cedar weathers gracefully. Oak brings warmth to spaces that might otherwise feel cold and architectural. Together, they give the home a texture and depth that photos don’t fully capture.
With homes of this calibre, they can often feel more like showhomes than family homes. The clients were clear: this needed to be somewhere they actually wanted to spend time, not just something that looked good on camera. The indoor-outdoor flow was central to the home’s opening to its coastal setting, blurring the line between inside and out.
